North Caddo beats West Ouachita 28-27

Coming off their loss to the 4A powerhouse Neville Tigers, North Caddo traveled to West Monroe to take on the undefeated 5 A powerhouse West Ouachita Chiefs.

2A North Caddo have been making history for the past few years. This year, facing one of their hardest schedules, North Caddo continue to amaze and make history.

The stands at “The Rez” were full as West Ouachita gathered for their homecoming game and festivities. The Chiefs soon learned that the NC Titans are not a team you want to schedule for homecoming.

North Caddo defense gets the MVP for this game. The Titan defense played tough all night allowing the power running Chiefs to put 27 points on the scoreboard; however, it was North Caddo defensive stand in the fourth quarter that won the victory. The North Caddo defense stopped the Chiefs 4 times on fourth down conversion attempts. The Chiefs, with 4 minutes left in the game had an opportunity to take the lead with a 2nd and goal from the 1 foot line. Coach Chase Thompson’s defense denied the end zone to the Chiefs and got the ball back for the Titan offense. From the 1 foot line the offense was able to get the ball out to the 3 yard line.

With 3:03 to go in the game North Caddo punted. The Chiefs began their last drive of the game, possibly the winning drive, on the North 31 yard line. The North Caddo defense shut down the Chiefs offense and on a fourth down conversation attempt the Chiefs would be 3 inches short giving the ball back to North Caddo with 1:34 to go in the game. Beginning on their own 21 yard line, and the Chiefs with two timeouts, North Caddo needed a first down. On the second play from scrimmage KJ Black broke into open field and took the ball 56 yards down to the Chiefs 20 yard line sealing the Titan victory. North Caddo go into district play 4-1 having defeated 3,4 and 5 A schools.

The Game at A Glance

North Caddo took a 6-0 lead with 7:57 to go in the first on a KJ Black 6 yard run. The Chiefs would score 14 taking an 8 point lead. North Caddo would tie the game at 14 with an Aiden Brock pass to KJ Black The Chiefs answered back and made the score 21-14 with 4:55 to go in the first half. With 2:25 to go in the first half Aiden Brock hit Omarion Miller for a two yard TD pass. At the half North Caddo trailed the Chiefs 21-20

Four minutes into the second half the Chiefs scored and went up 27-20.

North Caddo scored in an Omarion Miller 5 yar run as the fourth quater started. KJ Black bulled his way into the end zone for the two point conversion giving North Caddo the lead 28-27.

For the next 11 minutes the Titan defense would rain down the thunder on the Chief offense denying them the end zone and a homecoming victory.

North Caddo continue to prove that they are a force to be reckoned with on the football field.

North Caddo now get ready to take on Calvary at home for their own homecoming game.
