Rangers split double header with Angels on hot Tuesday

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Delino DeShields scored the game-winning run in the 11th inning to give the Texas Rangers a 3-2 win and a doubleheader split with the Los Angeles Angels.

DeShields came home after an error by first baseman Albert Pujols on a hard-hit shot by Nick Solak. Solak also homered in the nightcap after his big league debut in the opener.

Mike Trout and the Angels won game 1 of the twin-bill

Mike Trout matched the MLB lead with his career-best 42nd homer, Andrew Heaney had a career-high 14 strikeouts in eight innings when the Angels won the opener 5-1.

Rangers split angels

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers right fielder Nomar Mazara has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. The Rangers made the move before the first game of their doubleheader against the Los Angeles Angels. Mazara left Monday night’s game with oblique tightness.

The Angels play the Rangers tonight at 6:05 p.m., on K-104.1 FM and 1320 AM in Vivian, LA.
