Guzman placed on 10-day DL; Wisdom recalled

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Texas Rangers placed first baseman Ronald Guzman on the 10-day injured list and recalled infielder Patrick Wisdom from Triple-A Nashville to fill his spot on the active roster.

Guzman left Saturday’s 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels with a right hamstring strain while running the bases during his double in the third inning. Guzman has produced a .231 batting average, two home runs, and four RBI in nine games with the Rangers. The earliest that he would be able to return would be April 17.

Wisdom has started at third base in each of the Sounds’ first three games, going 3-of-12 with a home run and four RBI. While making his Rangers debut, Wisdom’s major league debut came with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2018 when he batted .260 with four home runs and 10 RBI in 32 appearances.

Texas is at the 40-man major league roster limit. RHP Luke Farrell, OF Scott Heineman, and LHP Yohander Méndez are on the club’s 60-day injured list.
